Easy parnters are pleased to announce the Easy European Summit under the auspices of the Slovenian Presidency which will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia on the 19th of May 2008. The Summit which is being hosted by the Small Business Support Centre of Ljubljana (CRMG) and supported by Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments, will focus on the key topic of stimulating investment in early stage businesses and notably, focusing on the importance of creating a supportive legal and fiscal environment in the Member States.
Across Europe, our work under the EASY programme has focused on bringing investors and early stage entrepreneurs together to explore the opportunities for cross-border investment looking at issues on both the demand and supply side. This has included building good practice tools and a quality environment for transnational investing. The importance of an effective tax and regulatory framework has been identified as a key issue to ensure the successful working of the early stage investment market place, not only for cross-border investing, but also to stimulate the overall level of early stage investment within the EU Member States. Moreover this was highlighted under the previous EU Presidency held by Portugal and identified as part of the Estoril declaration (October 2007).
Whilst some Member States have taken steps to address theses issues, there are many countries where further actions still need to be taken to support early stage investment and address the equity gap. An international group of respected high level speakers and panelists from Euroepan Commission, governments, academia, the investment community and business will provide insight about current policy approaches and initiatives to stimulate early stage investment around Europe, as well as reviewing practical actions, support programmes and case studies and their impact on the early stage and cross-border investment market. We strongly believe that the EASY European Summit will provide a great opportunity for the whole EU community concerned with early stage investment and entrepreneurship to debate these issues and develop possible solutions and recommendations.
